Nick Whited began his running career at Richlands High School in the mountains of Richlands, Virginia where he participated in Cross Country his senior year and track all four years of high school.

Nick continued his running career throughout college at Methodist College in Fayetteville , NC where he was named Most Improved for cross-country 3 years in a row. He made numerous all-conference teams DIAC in the 4X800 relay event.

Nick began training for the mile seriously after graduating from Methodist while in graduate school in central Kentucky . He soon found that he has maxed out his speed component and began training for ultra racing upon graduating and ran his first ultra in January of 2005 at the Frosty 50k in Winston – Salem, NC garnering a 7th place finish.
