Background
Mark Lundblad is an accomplished trail runner and ultramarathoner. Mark began his ultrarunning career in 2003 after previously focusing on road marathons and shorter distances. In 2004, he won the Starr Mountain 50Km settting anew course record. In the same year he also placed 6th overall in the USATF Dupont Marathon Trail Championships. Mark also finished 4th overall at the prestigious JFK 50 Mile in 2004.
Mark had a prolific season in 2005 with 9 top-5 overall finishes in distances from the marathon to 50 miles. Some of his 2005 highlights include 2nd-Place overall finishes at Holiday Lake 50Km, Umstead Trail Marathon, Highlands Sky 40 Mile, and Great Eastern 50Km. Mark also returned to the JFK 50 Mile in 2005 where he earned a 5th-Place overall finish.
Mark has already started off the 2007 season with a 2nd-Place overall finish at the Mt. Mitchell Challenge, 37+ Mile race that climbs up to a peak of 6,684'! Mark's time on the course was the 2nd fastest in the history of the race. He followed this performance with his first National Championship title by winning the 2007 Tussey Mountainback 50 Mile, which served as the USATF 50 Mile Road National Championship.
